Fred Olsen Renewables Advances Construction of 50MW Crystal Rig 4 Wind Farm in Scotland

has commenced construction on the 50 megawatt (MW) Crystal Rig 4 wind farm in , marking a significant stride in their renewable energy portfolio.

Located south of Dunbar in East Lothian and north-west of Duns in the Scottish Borders, the 11-turbine site received consent from the Scottish government in 2021 and is scheduled to begin generating electricity in early 2026.

“This project milestone is a strategic advancement for Fred Olsen Renewables,” stated Sofie Jebsen, Chief Executive of Fred Olsen Renewables. “We are delighted to be celebrating this key milestone, demonstrating our commitment to Scotland's renewable ambitions and the wider 's net zero journey.”

The wind farm, expected to provide over £8 million to communities in East Lothian and the Scottish Borders throughout its operational lifetime, emphasizes local engagement. Main contractor RJ McLeod will oversee site installation, prioritizing local contractors during the procurement process.

Crystal Rig 4 represents Fred Olsen Renewables' first wind farm in Scotland to utilize turbines, underscoring their technological and environmental commitment.

“We are committed to working closely with the local community and stakeholders throughout the construction of Crystal Rig 4,” Jebsen added, “minimizing disruption and maximizing the project's benefits.”
