US-based safety testing and inspection company UL Solutions has acquired TesTneT Engineering GmbH, a German firm specializing in hydrogen component testing. The financial terms of the acquisition, finalized on July 8, 2024, were not disclosed.
The acquisition aims to strengthen UL Solutions' capabilities in advancing hydrogen-powered technologies globally, the company announced on Tuesday.
Headquartered near Munich, TesTneT Engineering provides a range of testing services for hydrogen storage systems, refueling stations, and associated components. These services include hydraulic tests, destructive testing, materials analysis, and customized testing of storage tanks.
Additionally, TesTneT operates a second facility in Canada, catering to a diverse clientele that includes the automotive industry and major hydrogen component manufacturers.
Jennifer Scanlon, CEO of UL Solutions, expressed optimism about the acquisition, emphasizing the growing importance of hydrogen technology in the transition to sustainable energy.
