Philadelphia-based renewable energy company Doral Renewables celebrated a significant milestone with the upcoming commencement of commercial operations at the 400-MW Mammoth North Solar project in Indiana.
The event, attended by Indiana's Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg, landowners, and representatives from industry bodies like the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the American Clean Power Association (ACP), highlighted the project's scale and impact.
Mammoth North Solar constitutes the initial phase of the larger 1.3-GW Mammoth Solar complex, positioning it as one of India's largest renewable energy ventures.
SOLV Energy, serving as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) provider, employed American-made trackers from Nextracker for efficient solar panel orientation. Notably, the project incorporates dual-use design principles, allowing local farmers to continue livestock grazing while solar energy generation takes place.
Additionally, over 1,500 sheep are employed for vegetation management on-site, illustrating innovative sustainability practices integrated into the project's operations.
