Neoenergia SA, a Brazilian utility company, has entered into a significant agreement with the Ministry of Defense to implement over 2.1 MWp of solar farms and upgrade lighting systems in military facilities.
The initiative, valued at BRL 8.8 million (USD 1.6m/EUR 1.4m), will involve the construction of ten solar parks and the replacement of 3,600 inefficient lamps with energy-efficient LED models.
These projects will span installations in the Federal District, Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sao Paulo, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing operational costs for the Army, Navy, and Aeronautical buildings.
Neoenergia anticipates completing the entire operation by year-end, expecting annual energy bill savings of BRL 2.1 million for the Armed Forces.
The collaboration underscores Neoenergia's longstanding commitment to energy efficiency partnerships with the Brazilian Armed Forces, spanning more than a decade.
