Skyborn Renewables has initiated seabed surveys for its ambitious Pooki offshore wind farm project, located off the coast of Finland in the Bothnian Bay.
The project, expected to exceed 2 gigawatts (GW) in capacity, marks a significant milestone with the arrival of the Amber Cecilia survey vessel operated by Polish marine contractor MEWO SA.
Situated approximately 25 kilometers from the shore, in an average water depth of 20 meters, the surveys will gather crucial data throughout 2024.
These studies are essential for technical planning and will contribute to the upcoming environmental impact assessment (EIA) process.
“Pooki has the potential to contribute over 2GW of clean energy to Finland's grid, representing a substantial leap towards a sustainable future,” stated the German developer, emphasizing the project's significance in bolstering Finland's renewable energy capacity.
