Rezolv Energy has finalized a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Bekaert, securing the sale of 100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable power annually from its 461MW Vifor wind farm in Buzau County, Romania.
Developed in collaboration with Low Carbon, Vifor is poised to become one of Europe's largest onshore wind farms upon completion.
Bekaert, a leading coatings producer, views this agreement as a crucial step in enhancing its renewable energy portfolio and reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Michael Hamilton, Vice President of Commodities at Bekaert, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are delighted to sign this exciting project in Romania with Rezolv. By integrating renewable energy sources into our operations, we are taking significant steps towards a greener future for our company and the customers we serve.”
Alastair Hammond, CEO of Rezolv Energy, highlighted the collaborative effort in achieving decarbonization goals through the VPPA, emphasizing its role in supporting Romania's energy transition. Hammond noted, “By signing it, Bekaert is also enabling the first phase of the Vifor project, a large-scale wind farm which will play a significant role in Romania's energy transition. Phase 2 will help us meet even more of the widespread corporate demand for clean power.”
