Swiss power producer and energy service provider Alpiq has announced its decision to divest from the rooftop photovoltaic (PV) business, opting to sell its 5.5-megawatt peak (MWp) portfolio of seven rooftop installations in Switzerland.
The buyer, PS Panneaux Solaires SA, an entity of Gefiswiss Energy Transition Fund, will acquire the portfolio, which is located across the cantons of Fribourg, Solothurn, and Vaud. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The rooftop installations currently generate an average of 5.6 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually.
“With this divestment, Alpiq aims to refocus on flexibility solutions for integrating renewable energies and expanding energy storage capacities, along with winter electricity production,” Alpiq stated in a released statement.
