African Clean Energy Developments (ACED) has inked a significant deal with Vestas for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm in South Africa's Western Cape, totaling 144 MW. The contract encompasses the supply and installation of 32 V163-4.5 MW wind turbines along with a 10-year service agreement.
“We are very pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with Vestas,” stated Sam Cook, Project Director of Procurement and Construction at ACED. “This order underscores our commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions to our stakeholders and communities.”
Novani Ganess-Johnson, CEO of Vestas in South Africa, expressed confidence in the collaboration: “We appreciate ACED's trust in our V163-4.5 MW wind turbine. Our technology aims to ensure reliable energy production, supporting ACED's project viability and contributing to South Africa's sustainable energy goals.”
Delivery of the turbines is slated for the first half of 2025, with commissioning expected by mid-2026. Vestas maintains a leading position in South Africa's wind energy sector, with over 1.5 GW either installed or under construction.
