Neoenergia has entered into an agreement with the government of Ceara state to investigate the feasibility of offshore wind power projects along the state's coastline.
According to a statement by Neoenergia, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) will focus on conducting studies related to offshore wind generation in Ceara. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Marcelo Lopes, Director of Hydraulics and Offshore at Neoenergia, emphasized the necessity for a regulatory framework in Brazil to support offshore wind energy development, aiming to provide legal and regulatory certainty for prospective investors.
Neoenergia has also initiated similar feasibility studies through MoUs in other Brazilian states, including Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, and Rio Grande do Sul, reflecting its broader interest in offshore wind power exploration.
