The Nordex Group has announced plans to restart nacelle manufacturing at its facility in West Branch, Iowa, aiming to produce units for both the N163 turbine variant and a specialized product tailored for the US market.
Since establishing operations in the USA in 2000, with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, and multiple service points across the region, Nordex has positioned the Iowa facility as a strategic hub.
“After suspending nacelle production, we maintained readiness at our Iowa manufacturing facility to resume operations, focusing primarily on projects in the US and Canada,” stated Alberto Fernandez, Chief Operations Officer of the Nordex Group. “Recruitment and training initiatives are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2024.”
José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group, emphasized, “Manufacturing nacelles in the US is a significant step toward enhancing local procurement and expanding our manufacturing presence in North America, crucial for our regional growth strategy.”
Manav Sharma, CEO of Division North America, highlighted the strategic importance of leveraging existing local supply chains to meet domestic content requirements. “Starting in the first half of 2025, we plan to ramp up production capacities in line with order volumes, exceeding 2.5 GW annually, thereby creating additional jobs in the US.”
Sharma, previously Chief Operations Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, played a key role in expanding Nordex's global manufacturing network, including successful facility launches in India, Brazil, and China.
