Floating Power Plant A/S Acquires Siemens Gamesa Wind Turbine for Canary Islands Project

Floating Power Plant A/S, a prominent Danish clean technology developer, announced on Tuesday the procurement of a 4.3 MW wind turbine from Siemens Gamesa for its flagship demonstrator project off Gran Canaria. This marks a significant milestone for the company's ambitious initiative.

Laura Volta Roqueta, senior wind turbine engineer at Floating Power Plant, emphasized the suitability of the SWT-DD-120 turbine for their project, stating, “It is precisely what we need for this project. This wind turbine generator aligns with the site requirements, and its direct-drive technology is a perfect fit for our demonstrator platform.”

The demonstrator project, situated at the PLOCAN site in the Canary Islands, , aims to showcase an innovative integration of wind power, wave power, and storage technologies.

Recently awarded a EUR 26 million (USD 27.9 million) grant from the EU Innovation Fund, the project underscores 's commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions.
