Floating Power Plant A/S, a prominent Danish clean technology developer, announced on Tuesday the procurement of a 4.3 MW wind turbine from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for its flagship demonstrator project off Gran Canaria. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for the company's ambitious initiative.
Laura Volta Roqueta, senior wind turbine engineer at Floating Power Plant, emphasized the suitability of the SWT-DD-120 turbine for their project, stating, “It is precisely what we need for this project. This wind turbine generator aligns with the site requirements, and its direct-drive technology is a perfect fit for our demonstrator platform.”
The demonstrator project, situated at the PLOCAN site in the Canary Islands, Spain, aims to showcase an innovative integration of wind power, wave power, and hydrogen storage technologies.
Recently awarded a EUR 26 million (USD 27.9 million) grant from the EU Innovation Fund, the project underscores Europe's commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions.
