DTEK Renewables, the green energy division of Ukrainian private energy group DTEK, has advanced its plans to construct a 650-megawatt (MW) wind farm in central Ukraine, with construction expected to commence in 2025.
In a statement released on Friday, DTEK Renewables disclosed that it has received technical specifications for grid connection, marking a crucial step forward in the project's development. These specifications will inform the design of the wind farm's power collection substation.
“We are currently in the process of obtaining all necessary permits and documentation to begin construction,” a spokesperson for DTEK Renewables confirmed.
The DTEK Poltavska wind farm is slated to be located in the Hlobynska community within the Poltava region. To gather essential wind data, a meteorological mast has already been installed at the site, with plans underway to erect a second mast to further assess wind patterns across the expansive project area.
Extensive ornithological surveys conducted over six months have determined that the proposed turbine layout will not interfere with bird migration patterns during the spring season. Additional studies are planned for the autumn to comprehensively assess potential impacts.
DTEK has initiated negotiations with landowners to secure sites for five additional substations and wind turbines. Pre-design activities for the project commenced in October last year,
