Castillo Engineering, a US-based firm specializing in solar and energy storage design and engineering, has secured a significant contract as the engineer of record (EOR) for 14 community solar projects in Illinois.
These projects, with a combined capacity of 56 MW, mark a substantial milestone for Castillo Engineering and the Illinois solar market.
Under the agreement, Castillo Engineering will provide a range of services including civil, electrical, structural, and power system studies.
The projects will be developed in three portfolios: three projects totaling 23 MW with Recon Corporation; seven projects totaling 21 MW; and an additional four projects totaling 12 MW.
According to a press statement released on Wednesday, all 14 sites will be equipped with fixed-tilt, bifacial solar modules. The projects are scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2025, contributing significantly to Illinois' renewable energy goals.
