The parcels slated for the geothermal lease sale are distributed across the jurisdictions of four BLM district offices: Battle Mountain, Carson City, Elko, and Winnemucca. Detailed information, including documents, maps, stipulations, and portals for comments, can be accessed through the official announcement, with updates expected on some links soon.
BLM-issued geothermal leases span a 10-year period. Revenue distribution from these leases allocates 50 percent of bid amounts, rental receipts, and royalties to the respective state, with an additional 25 percent to the respective county, and the remaining 25 percent to the U.S. Treasury.

Each lease includes standard stipulations aimed at protecting endangered species, preserving cultural resources, and ensuring environmentally responsible development practices. Following the lease award, lessees must submit site-specific proposals for further detailed review before any drilling operations commence.
