Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd, a leading global independent solar power producer, has officially commissioned its largest solar farm in Italy, the 27.9-MWp Aprilia 1 facility located near Rome.
The project, developed in collaboration with local authorities, spans 30 hectares within the Aprilia commune and features over 50,000 solar modules. With its completion, the site is expected to generate sufficient electricity to power more than 16,000 households.
Mario Volpe, Sonnedix's representative director for Italy, remarked on the achievement, stating: “Today, Sonnedix has almost 500 MW operational capacity in Italy and the goal is to reach 1 GW operational capacity in the next 18 months.”
Sonnedix boasts a global portfolio exceeding 10 GW, inclusive of a substantial 6 GW development pipeline. The company maintains active operations across Europe, Asia, South America, and North America.
The commissioning of the Aprilia 1 solar farm marks a significant milestone for Sonnedix in its commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure, contributing to Italy's energy transition objectives, and reinforcing its position as a key player in the international solar energy market.
