Standard Energy, the company spearheading the initiative, announced on Friday that the photovoltaic (PV) cell production line of its new 3-GW smart factory in Thailand is slated to commence operations by July.
The firm has been diligently constructing the facility, which boasts an investment exceeding USD 100 million (EUR 92.3m), at the LK Rayong Industrial City Hub since the previous year.
The primary objective of the project is to augment production capacity for 3 GW of silicon wafers and 3 GW of PV cells.
Standard Energy reported that the project has progressed to the stage of equipment installation. Subsequent to the launch of the PV cell line, efforts will be directed towards ensuring the operational readiness of the N-type silicon wafer production line by September.
According to Standard Energy, the establishment of this smart factory marks a significant milestone for Thailand, positioning it as the country's third-largest facility of its kind. Moreover, the project is anticipated to generate over 1,000 local employment opportunities.
