Brazil Adds 1.5GW of Renewable Energy Capacity in April 2024

Brazil's power sector regulator, Aneel, revealed on Thursday that sources accounted for the entirety of the 1,505.15 MW of power generation capacity added across the country in April 2024.

farms emerged as the leading contributor, adding 733.74 MW to the last month, followed closely by wind power with 559.90 MW. -fired plants and facilities contributed 208.51 MW and 3 MW, respectively.

In total, approximately 4.1 GW of power-generating capacity has been integrated into the national grid within the first four months of the year.

As of the beginning of May, Brazil boasted 202,091.5 MW of installed power generation capacity. Notably, Aneel highlighted that 84.48% of this total capacity is derived from renewable energy sources, underlining the country's significant reliance on clean energy.
