Nashville-based renewable energy firm Silicon Ranch has announced a partnership with Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE), an electric cooperative, to develop a 110-MW solar park in the Tennessee Valley.
According to Silicon Ranch, the Copeland Solar Farm will be financed, constructed, operated, and maintained by the company. In return, MTE will receive the electricity and associated environmental attributes generated by the project to distribute among its members.
As the largest electric cooperative in the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) region, MTE currently serves over 750,000 residents across 11 counties.
Situated in Cumberland County, the photovoltaic (PV) project is poised to become the largest solar park directly supplying a local power company in the Tennessee Valley. With commercial operations set to commence in late 2027, the project will operate under TVA's recently expanded Generation Flexibility Programme.
