he European Commission has given the green light to Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners' proposed acquisition of stakes in a portfolio of US wind farms from Denmark-based Orsted A/S.
According to sources, the Danish energy group is divesting stakes in four onshore wind parks, amounting to a total consideration of approximately USD 300 million (EUR 322.8 million).
The transaction, finalized in March, has been deemed unlikely to raise any competition concerns as it is expected to have a limited impact on the European Economic Area, stated the EU watchdog on Monday.
The proposed acquisition underwent scrutiny under the simplified merger review procedure.
The wind farm portfolio subject to the agreement is currently held by OONA Energy Partners 3 LLC and comprises the 121-MW Ford Ridge wind park in Illinois, the 268-MW Helena Wind and 367-MW Western Trail Wind parks in Texas, and the 200-MW Sunflower wind farm in Kansas. These facilities operate under power purchase agreements (PPAs) with major corporations such as Mars Inc, Google, PepsiCo, Walmart, and Hormel Foods.
