In Maricopa County, Arizona, Longroad inaugurated its expansive Longroad Sun Streams Complex, marking a significant stride in renewable energy sustainability.
The complex currently consists of three projects, totaling 862MWdc (665MWac) of solar capacity and 515MWac/2060MWh of storage, with plans for expansion to over 950MWdc of solar and 600MWac/500MWh of storage upon completion.
Longroad's Chief Executive, Paul Gaynor, remarked on the occasion, stating, “It was an honor to welcome today Governor Hobbs, Arizona officials, and our valued partners to our flagship Longroad Sun Streams Complex to mark the progress that has been made with this large-scale renewable energy infrastructure and its impact on Arizona.”
The Sun Streams Complex represents a substantial investment, with over $2 billion committed to its development. Gaynor emphasized the project's multifaceted benefits, including its significant contribution to Arizona's economy and its pivotal role in advancing renewable energy objectives.
Governor Katie Hobbs acknowledged the complex's significance, stating, “The Longroad Sun Streams Complex is a powerful example of how responsible land stewardship and the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure deliver benefits to Arizona citizens.”
ACC Commissioner Lea Marquez Peterson also highlighted the complex's role in diversifying Arizona's energy mix and enhancing energy reliability. “As Arizona continues to diversify our energy mix with clean generation sources, the Longroad Sun Streams Complex is a great example of the value and progress that large-scale solar energy brings to the state,” Peterson affirmed.
