Greenvolt Energias Renovaveis SA announced a landmark initiative on Monday, revealing plans to provide renewable power sourced from several strategically located solar communities to local lender Millennium bcp's branches across Portugal.
Under this pioneering arrangement, solar power generated from these communities will be channeled to over 60 of Millennium bcp's consumption points, ensuring a substantial reduction in carbon footprint while advancing sustainability objectives.
In a statement to the press, Greenvolt highlighted its commitment to expanding the scope of renewable energy adoption, emphasizing that additional branches of Millennium bcp will be integrated into the renewable power supply network as Greenvolt establishes new solar communities.
Miguel Maya, CEO of Millennium bcp, underscored the significance of this partnership, affirming, “This partnership with Greenvolt reflects Millennium bcp's strengthened commitment to assuming a leading role in the energy transition process, as all of the Bank's branches will become consumers of clean energy.”
The implementation of this groundbreaking project will be facilitated through Greenvolt Comunidades, a subsidiary dedicated to promoting the distributed generation (DG) sector. Currently, Greenvolt Comunidades boasts approximately 120 communities either fully operational or in the implementation phase across Portugal, underscoring the company's unwavering dedication to advancing renewable energy solutions and fostering sustainability across diverse sectors of the economy.
