Ohmium International, a leading manufacturer of advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, has joined forces with Chilean company H2 Green Mining to spearhead green projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the mining sector of .

H2 Green Mining, a joint venture between Susterra and Star Energy Partners, focuses on developing sustainable mining practices in Chile through green hydrogen initiatives.

The collaboration between H2 Green Mining and Ohmium will see the development of a 20 MW green hydrogen pilot project, with potential scalability to 200 MW. Situated strategically 15 km southwest of Calama in Northern Chile, the project holds significance due to its proximity to seven major mining operations, accounting for 29% of the national copper production. The region's abundant solar and wind resources make it conducive to renewable energy production.

Ohmium's PEM electrolyzers will play a pivotal role in generating hydrogen for various thermal processes within the mines, including copper smelting. Additionally, the hydrogen produced may be utilized to power trucks transporting minerals to the nearby port in Mejillones.

With headquarters in the United States and manufacturing facilities in India, Ohmium boasts a global green hydrogen project exceeding 2 GW across three continents. In 2023, the company secured $250 million in Series C financing, led by TPG Rise Climate.

Ohmium's modular interlocking PEM electrolyzers integrate electronics, offering enhanced safety, cost-effectiveness in installation, energy density, scalability, and ramp rate for commercial and industrial applications. The company's patented electrolyzer technology, featuring dynamic ramping capabilities, aligns seamlessly with renewable electricity sources.

The standardized design of Ohmium's electrolyzers facilitates easy stacking, reducing installation and maintenance costs, and enabling rapid scaling from megawatts to gigawatts. This partnership underscores the commitment of both companies to advancing sustainable practices in the mining sector and fostering the adoption of green in Chile.
