Greencoat Renewables has inked a significant 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Keppel DC REIT to supply two data centers in Dublin, Ireland with renewable energy. The agreement covers output from the Ballybane Phase 1 wind farm located in County Cork.
Under the terms of the PPA, Keppel DC REIT will purchase 100% of the electricity generated by the Ballybane Phase 1 wind farm. This marks Greencoat Renewables' first Power Purchase Agreement with Keppel DC REIT and highlights the substantial opportunity for the company to provide renewable electricity to Ireland's growing data center market.
Paul O'Donnell, Greencoat Renewables' investment manager, expressed delight at the partnership, stating, “This partnership evidences the significant opportunity for Greencoat Renewables, as the largest operator of wind assets in Ireland, to provide renewable electricity to the growing Irish data centre market.”
Gary Watson, Country Manager at Keppel DC REIT (Ireland), emphasized the transformative nature of the agreement for their colocation data center operations in Ireland. He highlighted that the deal will assist in achieving their commitment to becoming net zero by 2030 in accordance with Ireland's Climate Action Plan and their pledge to the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact.
Watson added, “We also firmly believe that delivering on our commitment will help our clients to achieve their sustainability goals and solidify our status as their partner of choice.”
