Portuguese renewables company Greenvolt Group is preparing to participate in Romania's first contracts for difference (CfDs) tender with a 250-MW wind project, according to a report from business news source Economica.net.
Romania is set to auction 1 GW of onshore wind and 1 GW of solar capacity in this year's CfDs auction. The winners will receive grant financing under a EUR 3 billion (USD 3.19 billion) state aid program approved by the European Commission (EC) in March.
Greenvolt's CEO Joao Manso Neto, speaking at the recent launch of its Romanian distributed generation (DG) solutions business, expressed satisfaction with the regulatory framework for the CfD mechanism, describing the maximum tariffs as “reasonable.” He indicated that the company intends to bid below the ceiling price, although he did not provide further details.
The report also mentions Greenvolt's work on a 40-MW solar project in Ialomita County, southeastern Romania. Construction of the photovoltaic (PV) park is scheduled to commence later this year, following the signing of a direct power purchase agreement (PPA) for its future output and the securing of technical approval for its grid connection.
Greenvolt Group has been active in Romania since 2021 through its subsidiary Greenvolt Power, focusing on utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects..
