Proterial Launches 10-MW Solar Power Plant in Saitama Prefecture

Proterial, a Japanese materials company, has recently inaugurated a significant power venture in Saitama prefecture. The approximately 10-MW solar power plant, strategically located in the Kumagaya district, serves as a cornerstone for Proterial's energy initiatives, closely tied to its Kumagaya Works and the Global & Innovative Technology Center.

Boasting a remarkable production capacity of 11.5 million kWh annually, this solar facility stands out as one of the largest captive-use solar power plants in . Proterial anticipates harnessing the entirety of the generated power within the district, aiming to cover approximately 10% of its total consumption.

This ambitious endeavor is projected to result in an impressive annual reduction of 5,100 tonnes in dioxide (CO2) emissions, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.

Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ) played a pivotal role in the realization of this solar project, having designed and constructed the facility under the Third Party Ownership/Power Purchase Agreement (TPO/PPA) model.
