Argentine power company Genneia reached a significant milestone on Monday with the commissioning of its 60-MW Tocota III solar farm located in the San Juan province of Argentina.
This accomplishment propelled Genneia's total installed renewables capacity in the country to 1 GW.
With the addition of Tocota III, Genneia now boasts a diversified portfolio of operational renewables, comprising seven wind farms — Rawson, Madryn, Chubut Norte, Trelew, Pomona, Villalonga, and Vientos de Necochea — alongside three solar farms — Ullum, Sierras de Ullum, and Tocota III.
The financing for the Tocota III project was facilitated through a combination of bond sales and loans. Notably, a portion of the proceeds was allocated towards the construction of the 162-MW La Elbita wind farm situated in Buenos Aires province. Genneia anticipates La Elbita to commence operations by the conclusion of 2024.
