Scottish Ministers Greenlight RES’ Revamped Cairn Duhie Wind Farm Project

Scottish Ministers have granted approval for ' redesigned project near Ferness, in Nairnshire, marking a significant milestone in 's landscape.

The revamped project, comprising 16 turbines, represents an optimization of a previously consented 20-turbine scheme dating back to 2017, leveraging modern turbine technology for enhanced efficiency.

Following the approval, RES intends to meticulously review and fulfill any planning conditions before commencing the project, which is poised to contribute an additional 67.2 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy towards both Scottish and Government targets.

Anticipated to inject approximately £4.4 million in inward investment into the local economy, the Cairn Duhie wind farm is expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate local services during its construction phase and initial year of operation.

Craig Smith, Project Manager for RES, expressed satisfaction with the approval, underscoring the project's potential to harness Scotland's renewable energy potential while delivering tangible benefits to consumers.

“Cairn Duhie is an excellent site for a wind farm, and we've worked hard to carefully design an optimized scheme that maximizes the volume of low-cost renewable energy that can be generated, for the benefit of consumers. We're delighted with the consent and pleased that the merits of the revised scheme have been recognized,” Smith remarked.
