EDF Renewables UK has successfully concluded the sale of three Scottish onshore wind farm development sites to Vantage RE. The wind farms, including the 25.8MW Camilty in West Lothian, 25.3MW Shelloch in Fintry, Stirlingshire, and the 67.2MW Troston in Dumfries and Galloway, all hold existing planning consent.
The sale represents a strategic move for EDF Renewables UK, allowing the company to refocus its efforts on other projects within its extensive pipeline, including those at earlier development stages across various technologies. EDF Renewables UK maintains a well-established relationship with Vantage RE, including a joint venture for the Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Limited in the North East of England and the proposed Blyth 2 floating offshore project.
Jon O'Sullivan, Director of Onshore for EDF Renewables UK, stated, “This sale will allow us to focus our efforts on other projects in the pipeline, including some at an earlier stage of development in the UK.” He emphasized the commitment of both EDF Renewables UK and Vantage RE to collaborating closely with local communities to maximize the benefits of renewable energy.
Vian Davys, CEO of Vantage RE, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “These wind farm projects complement our existing portfolio of renewable energy in the UK and Ireland.” He highlighted the shared vision between the two companies in delivering high-quality projects and their commitment to fostering a clean energy future.
EDF Renewables UK and Vantage RE will collaborate to ensure a smooth transition, keeping stakeholders and community groups informed about the new point of contact for the projects.
