Renewable energy company Boralex has clinched two wind power projects totaling 365MW in Hydro-Quebec's recent call for tenders, further strengthening its position in the region's energy market.
The first project, Arthabaska, boasts a capacity of 265MW and is slated for development in the Centre-du-Quebec region in partnership with MRC d'Arthabaska. The project, scheduled to come online in 2029, will utilize between 37 and 44 wind turbines.
The second project, Monnoir, is a 100MW initiative located in the Monteregie region. A collaboration between Cooperative regionale d'electricité de Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Rouville and Boralex, the project is set to commission in 2027, employing 15-20 turbines.
Boralex, alongside its project partners, is now focused on the execution of power purchase agreements with Hydro-Quebec while advancing the development activities of both the Arthabaska and Monnoir projects.
These achievements complement Boralex's existing portfolio, including the upcoming 200MW Apuiat wind project expected to go into service later this year. Additionally, Boralex is engaged in the development of three 400MW Des Neiges projects on the Seigneurie de Beaupre site in collaboration with Hydro-Quebec and Energir.
Patrick Decostre, President and CEO of Boralex, expressed confidence in the company's ability to deliver sustainable and profitable projects, stating, “Today's announcement is perfectly in line with our ambitious growth objectives for 2025, at a time when renewable energy production must be massively increased in Québec and across all our business markets in order to achieve the global energy transition.”
