The New York Power Authority (NYPA), a state public power utility, has initiated a request for information (RFI) to explore potential partnerships and opportunities in the realm of renewable energy projects and storage systems.
The RFI, issued at the beginning of the year, is aimed at gauging interest from renewable developers, contractors, and companies for the development, ownership, and operation of solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems.
Justin Driscoll, NYPA President, and Chief Executive highlighted the utility’s proactive approach, stating, “The Power Authority is building on momentum from the completed renewable energy conferral process to now engage with renewable developers directly to identify opportunities in the energy marketplace.” He added that the insights gained from the RFI responses would guide NYPA’s strategic steps in advancing the clean energy transition.
This move follows NYPA’s recently published Conferral Report, which incorporates stakeholder perspectives on renewable energy deployment in alignment with legislation outlined in the 2023-24 state budget.
The budget granted NYPA increased authority to develop, own, and operate renewable energy projects, further supporting the state’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
