Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has clinched a significant 106MW order from Capital Energy, an independent Spanish electricity producer (IPP), for a wind farm project in Spain. The agreement involves the delivery and installation of 18 N163/5.X turbines as part of the Mareas 1&2 wind farm located near Mequinenza in the province of Zaragosa.
Scheduled for completion in spring 2025, the turbines, part of Nordex’s Delta4000 series, will be mounted on tubular steel towers with hub heights reaching 108 meters. Commissioning of the Mareas 1&2 wind farm is set for June 2025, with Nordex committed to servicing the turbines for a duration of 20 years.

Juan José Sánchez, CEO of Capital Energy, expressed the significance of the partnership, stating, “This agreement with Nordex Group represents a new milestone in the fulfillment of our business plan, with which we continue to promote a green and fair energy transition.” Sánchez emphasized Capital Energy’s commitment to regional development, employment generation, and supporting the supply chain and technology in EU countries, particularly Spain.
Patxi Landa, Chief Sales Officer (CSO) of Nordex, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are pleased to have received our first order from Capital Energy,” highlighting the growing presence of Nordex in the Spanish market. Landa added, “This once again confirms the region’s potential and the increasing presence of the Nordex Group in the Spanish market, where so far this year we have acquired new business amounting to more than 500MW.”
