Ilmatar, the Finnish energy company, has achieved a milestone with the completion of its Västervik and Isokeidas wind farms. The projects, featuring a total of 14 turbines and nearly 87MW of nominal capacity, commenced commercial production ahead of schedule. Construction for both wind farms commenced in July 2022, following strategic investment decisions.
The successful completion of the Västervik and Isokeidas wind farms marks Ilmatar's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio. In 2023 alone, the company has initiated commercial production at six renewable energy production sites, further solidifying its position in the clean energy sector.
Ilmatar adheres to a long-term ownership strategy for its wind and solar power farms, ensuring continuous ownership throughout their entire lifecycle. Petri Ainonen, Ilmatar's Director for Construction, emphasized the successful execution of the projects and highlighted the company's ability to overcome challenges, particularly in dealing with challenging wind conditions during late summer and early autumn.
AIP Management played a significant role as a financier for Ilmatar's Isokeidas, Västervik, Jäkäläkangas, and Palma wind farms, all of which have achieved commercial operation status in 2023. The combined capacity of these four wind farms stands at 131.8MW, contributing to the company's renewable energy goals.
Ilmatar's achievement reflects the ongoing efforts within the renewable energy sector to meet clean energy targets and enhance the transition to sustainable power sources.
