EDP – Energias do Brasil SA celebrated the inauguration of a 3.82-MWp distributed generation (DG) solar park in Tremebe, Sao Paulo state, on Wednesday. Comprising three 1.27 MWp solar plants, the project incurred a total cost of BRL 19.1 million (USD 3.9 million/EUR 3.6 million).
EDP emphasized that this initiative aligns with the company's strategic focus on solar energy growth in Brazil, particularly within the DG sector.
The Tremembe plant, featuring 5,832 bifacial solar panels sprawled across 10 hectares (24.7 acres), is anticipated to generate ample clean electricity to satisfy the demands of approximately 3,400 households.
EDP has set an ambitious target of achieving 530 MWp of installed DG capacity in Brazil by 2026, requiring an investment of BRL 2.3 billion. Currently, the company oversees 87 DG solar farms in the country, with 48 already operational.
