Pan-Asia renewables platform Gurin Energy Pte Ltd announced on Wednesday the successful financial closing for a 75-MW solar project in the Philippines. The project, set to commence construction later this month, will be situated in the municipality of Palauig, Zambales province.
Spanning 80 hectares, the photovoltaic (PV) farm will feature the installation of 136,363 solar panels. Initial onsite preparations have already begun, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for mid-December. The solar facility is projected to become operational in the third quarter of 2024.
Upon completion, the Palauig project, valued at USD 60 million (EUR 55.8 million), will contribute electricity to power more than 35,500 homes annually.
This initiative is part of Gurin Energy's extensive 7-GW pipeline of projects across Asia. In September, the Singapore-based platform, in collaboration with Vanda RE, a joint venture with Gentari International Renewables, received conditional approval to import electricity into Singapore from 300 MW of renewable plants in Indonesia. Their project is one of five selected by the Singaporean Energy Market Authority to deliver 2 GW of clean power, establishing a green energy trading corridor between the two Asian nations.
