The planning inspector at District Council has granted approval for the 30-megawatt Ford Oaks Solar & Green Facility project. This endeavor is a collaborative effort between and Ltd, working together under the joint venture named Taiyo Power & Storage.

The planning inspector's decision was rooted in the belief that the benefits of the development significantly outweigh any potential drawbacks, aligning with the original recommendation of planning officers.

Located approximately four miles east of Exeter City Centre and in proximity to Exeter Airport, the facility is set to become a crucial contributor to the region's renewable energy landscape. Once operational, it will have the capacity to generate sufficient electricity to meet the annual consumption needs of approximately 18,500 households. Moreover, the project has been meticulously designed to deliver a remarkable 121% net gain, address flood mitigation concerns, and facilitate sheep grazing.

The Ford Oaks Solar & Green Infrastructure Facility aligns seamlessly with the Devon County Green Infrastructure Strategy, the Devon Climate Declaration, and the UK government's ambitious targets to expand solar power generation to 50 gigawatts by 2030. This approval underscores the commitment to sustainable energy solutions and the importance of aligning with regional and national goals for a greener future.
