European Energy, through its subsidiary Cerano Energreen, has secured authorization to move forward with the development of a 90-megawatt (MW) solar farm project in the scenic municipality of Cerano, Puglia, Italy. This milestone underscores European Energy's commitment to fostering collaborations with the local supply chain and rejuvenation programs within the Italian region.
A significant aspect of this solar venture is its dedication to reforestation. As part of this initiative, an expansive 35-hectare area will be allocated to reforesting, contributing to environmental sustainability and ecological balance in the region. Moreover, the project encompasses various infrastructure enhancements, further benefitting the local community.
The Cerano project distinguishes itself by employing solar modules mounted on trackers, enhancing the efficiency and productivity of the solar farm. European Energy's forward-looking vision aims to develop renewable energy initiatives in all regions of Italy, underscoring the country's importance as a key market for sustainable energy projects.
Thorvald Spanggaard, Executive Vice President and Head of Project Development at European Energy, expressed his enthusiasm for the Cerano project, highlighting the use of lands that are unsuitable for agriculture and have no alternative purpose. This strategic choice, coupled with the project's proximity to an industrial area, positions Cerano as an ideal location for advancing renewable energy endeavors.
