Corio, a player in the renewable energy sector, has forged a strategic partnership with Globalsat, a Greek technology firm, to jointly explore offshore wind development prospects along Greece's coastline. This collaborative venture coincides with the Greek government's unveiling of a national offshore wind program, envisioning the deployment of up to 4.9 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030-2032.
Guillermo Martínez-Navas, Head of Americas, New Markets & Portfolio Strategy at Corio, expressed enthusiasm about this alliance, stating, “This is an exciting partnership between two companies who are leaders in their field. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines the collaboration's key objectives. Corio, leveraging its expertise in auction preparation and project development, will join forces with Globalsat's in-depth knowledge of Greece's regulatory and economic framework.
This synergy will facilitate the assessment of potential areas for offshore wind farm development, encompassing essential engineering studies and research into relevant wind patterns, metocean conditions, and marine factors. The ultimate goal is to bid for rights and progress these developments to completion.
