Gentari and AM Green Collaborate on Extensive Green Hydrogen Production Initiative

In a strategic move towards advancing the adoption of and bolstering 's transition to a low-carbon economy, Gentari Sdn Bhd, in partnership with AM Green BV, has invested in the green ammonia platform, AM Green Ammonia Holdings BV (AMG Ammonia). Initiated by the founders of Greenko, a prominent renewable energy company in India, and backed by Singapore's GIC, this partnership is poised to reshape the landscape of sustainable energy production.

AMG Ammonia has set its sights on an ambitious goal of producing 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia by the year 2030. What makes this endeavor remarkable is its reliance on round-the-clock renewable energy sources, positioning it as a truly eco-friendly alternative. Green ammonia, considered one of the most stable and mature methods for transporting hydrogen, is instrumental in the global shift towards sustainable energy solutions.

The targeted 5 MTPA of green ammonia production is equivalent to approximately 1 MTPA of green hydrogen. This substantial output is projected to represent 20% of India's green hydrogen production target and 10% of 's imported renewable hydrogen target by the end of the decade. By late 2025, AMG Ammonia plans to commence exporting green ammonia to pivotal markets, including Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, firmly establishing itself as a leader in large-scale and cost-effective green ammonia production on a global scale.

Gentari and AM Green bring a blend of complementary strengths to the table, encompassing expertise in renewable energy, electrolyzers, and ammonia production. Both parties have committed to investing in AMG Ammonia, signaling their unwavering dedication to unlocking the platform's full potential and expanding their presence in the Pacific and European regions. Thanks to investments from Gentari, AM Green, and GIC, AMG Ammonia is fully funded for its ammonia production strategy, which encompasses multiple projects across various locations in India.

This strategic collaboration is set to ensure a competitive supply of hydrogen to the global market, marking a significant step forward in the manufacturing and export of green hydrogen within the region. For Gentari, these partnerships are instrumental in their mission to achieve a global goal of producing up to 1.2 MTPA of clean hydrogen by the year 2030.

Additionally, in Malaysia, Gentari is actively working to establish the country as a hydrogen export hub, aligning with a national roadmap for energy transition that prominently features hydrogen. Collaborative efforts with local entities such as Sarawak's SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd, , and Tenaga Nasional Berhad are exploring green hydrogen production possibilities in various regions of the country.

Sushil Purohit, CEO of Gentari, emphasized the significance of industry-level collaborations in accelerating the global adoption of green hydrogen. He underscored the pivotal role that green ammonia will play in decarbonizing industries, particularly in OECD, Southeast, and East Asian economies.

Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, highlighted the pivotal role of this partnership in supporting India's transition to a low-carbon green economy and expediting net-zero targets across various industries and OECD economies.
