Statera Energy Awards FEED Contract for Kintore Green Hydrogen Project to Worley in Aberdeenshire

has taken a significant stride towards realizing the monumental 3GW Kintore green project by awarding the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract for its inaugural phase to Worley, a prominent engineering firm. This ambitious endeavor is poised to position Aberdeenshire, , as a central hub of the burgeoning economy in Europe while bolstering the UK's energy resilience and adaptability.

Worley, entrusted with this pivotal role, will spearhead the project from its Aberdeen office, leveraging local expertise and resources to ensure its success.

Once operational, Kintore is poised to claim the title of Europe's largest green hydrogen initiative. It aspires to harness excess electricity generated by Scotland's expansive wind resources to produce clean and sustainable hydrogen.

Historically recognized as a global leader in the energy sector, the North East of Scotland is ideally poised to steer this transformative project towards fruition. The region's wealth of expertise and skills will prove indispensable in driving Kintore's development.

Don Harrold, Project Director at Statera Energy, expressed the project's groundbreaking nature, emphasizing the company's commitment to decarbonizing the UK's energy landscape while enhancing energy security. He also underscored the pivotal role of the North East of Scotland in the broader energy transition.

The FEED study for Kintore's initial phase is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the target final investment decision earmarked for 2025. The ambitious project aims to achieve its full 3GW production capacity by the 2030s.
