Jan De Nul has enlisted the services of Jumbo-SAL-Alliance to execute the secondary steel installation for Orsted's ambitious offshore wind farm projects. The collaboration, set to take place on Orsted's 253MW Gode Wind 3 and 900MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms, aims to propel these projects toward their operational status, expected by 2024 and 2025.
The pivotal role of Jumbo-SAL-Alliance's vessel, MV Lone, will be to install essential components including boat landings, platforms, and corrosion protection systems on the foundations of these offshore wind farms. This partnership signifies a promising stride in the renewable energy industry, with the potential to significantly impact the environment and the communities residing in the vicinity.
Morten Hinrichs, Head of Project Management at SAL Heavy Lift, expressed optimism about the projects' potential benefits. “We anticipate that these projects will positively impact the environment and neighboring communities,” he said. “We are highly optimistic that these initiatives will create a positive impact on the lives of the local people and enhance the ecological balance in the region. We are proud to be part of this project in the renewable energy industry, striving to develop sustainable energy further and provide more households with access to green electricity.”
This collaboration underscores the growing commitment to expanding renewable energy sources, particularly in offshore wind energy, as countries seek to reduce their carbon footprint and secure a sustainable energy future. The partnership between Jan De Nul and Jumbo-SAL-Alliance is poised to contribute significantly to achieving these goals, while also fostering economic and environmental improvements in the North Sea region.
