Suzlon Secures Contract for 29.4 MW Wind Capacity in BrightNight’s 100 MW Hybrid Project

Suzlon Group, a provider of solutions in , has announced a new contract for the development of 29.4 MW of wind power capacity within 's 100 MW co-located wind-solar hybrid project. Suzlon will deploy 14 units of their S120 – 140m generators (WTGs) featuring a (HLT) tower, each with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW, in Osmanabad, Maharashtra. The project is set to be commissioned in stages, commencing in April 2024.

Suzlon will oversee the project's execution, encompassing supply, installation, and commissioning, with subsequent post-commissioning operation and maintenance services.

JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, expressed satisfaction with the order and emphasized Suzlon's commitment to aiding Indian industries in achieving their sustainability goals. He highlighted that Suzlon's domestically manufactured turbines, with over 80%-90% domestic content, align with India's vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.'

Suzlon's turbines feature the proven Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology, facilitating the seamless integration of wind turbines into the utility network to meet grid requirements.

BrightNight, a global independent power producer with a 38 GW portfolio, has a growing presence in India and a shared commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The company's CEO, Martin Hermann, expressed excitement about their partnership with Suzlon, citing the company's reliable technology and dedication to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.' He noted that India offers a significant market opportunity for BrightNight as it expands its renewable energy portfolio.

BrightNight CEO Sajay K V emphasized their commitment to providing clean energy to customers and praised Suzlon's role in supporting their projects. The 100 MW co-located wind-solar hybrid plant is tailored to meet the greening and energy savings needs of commercial and industrial customers in Maharashtra. The configuration allows customers to achieve up to 80% greening of their overall consumption, aligning with sustainability goals.

BrightNight has recently announced a USD 250 million partnership with ACEN, an Ayala group company, aimed at accelerating and expanding its project portfolio in India. This partnership signifies BrightNight's dedication to delivering innovative renewable solutions to meet growing energy demands.
