Vattenfall Initiates Construction of 79MW Agrivoltaic Project in Northeast Germany

has embarked on the construction of its Tutzpatz 79MW project in northeastern .

Spanning an expansive area of 93 hectares, this groundbreaking project will see the installation of modules on diverse rack systems, cleverly integrated with various forms of agricultural practices.

Collaborating with Vattenfall on this pioneering endeavor is Power and Air Condition Solution Management (PASM), a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. Under the terms of a corporate , PASM has committed to procuring the plant's power production for a decade.

Notably, the Tutzpatz agrivoltaic farm is designed to annually fulfill the energy requirements of approximately 2,500 Deutsche Telekom mobile phone stations. Remarkably, this ambitious venture is being developed without reliance on state subsidies and is slated for completion in 2024.

Claus Wattendrup, Head of Vattenfall's Solar Division, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “With the construction of an agrivoltaic project on this scale, we are breaking new ground. We aim to demonstrate that sustainable agriculture and energy production can seamlessly coexist. Through the Tutzpatz project, we are taking this emerging technology to a commercial level, fostering innovation in both sectors.”
