Atlantic Green Secures £16.5 Million Financing from Goldman Sachs for UK Battery Storage Project

has successfully secured £16.5 million in financing from for its 60MWh Buxton storage project, currently under advanced construction in Derbyshire, UK.

Goldman Sachs, represented by Managing Director Ingmar Grebien, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are excited to execute this transaction with Atlantic Green, providing the Buxton project with an innovative package of project financing combined with route-to-market services. We believe that automated real-time trading with expert market overlay is key to the successful management of flexible assets that are critical to the energy transition.”

The Buxton project is on track for expected energization in the first quarter of 2024, contributing to the UK's growing energy storage . Beyond its energy storage capabilities, the Buxton site is noteworthy for its commitment to environmental stewardship, offering space for landscape planting and ecological enhancements to promote biodiversity net gains.

This development is a part of Atlantic Green's ambitious 1GWh energy storage portfolio, which includes the substantial 698MWh Cellarhead project. The investment from Goldman Sachs underscores the growing importance of and energy storage solutions in the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.
