In a significant stride towards sustainable energy solutions, Apex Clean Energy and Google have entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the entirety of the 189MW capacity of the forthcoming Timbermill Wind project, set to be erected in North Carolina. This collaboration not only underscores Google's dedication to achieving carbon-free operations by 2030 but also signals a joint effort to address the challenges of renewable energy integration within complex grids.
Google's ongoing environmental endeavors, spanning over three decades, have notably included powering its operations exclusively with renewable energy sources since 2017. The newly inked PPA with Apex Clean Energy for the Timbermill Wind project further solidifies Google's commitment to sustainability and clean energy.
The Timbermill Wind project stands as a testament to Apex Clean Energy's proficiency in executing their extensive portfolio of renewable initiatives. Beyond the evident environmental advantages, the Timbermill Wind project is poised to make a substantial positive impact on the local community. As the largest taxpayer in Chowan County, the project is projected to contribute around $190,000 to neighboring conservation efforts. Moreover, the project's economic implications are noteworthy, with an anticipated $33 million in tax revenue destined for the community, accompanied by the creation of over 150 jobs during the construction phase. Additionally, local farmers and landowners stand to gain a new source of income, reinforcing the project's multi-faceted benefits to the region.
