Trina Solar’s Yiwu Manufacturing Facility Achieves Zero Carbon Status

, a  energy solutions provider, has announced the certification of its Yiwu manufacturing facility as a Zero Carbon Factory, setting a remarkable precedent in the (PV) industry. The factory's outstanding achievement was recognized by TiGroup, an independent certification body specializing in health, safety, environmental, and sustainability inspection and testing.

The assessment conducted by TiGroup comprehensively evaluated various on-site indicators, including energy and resource utilization, greenhouse gas reduction measures, carbon offset implementation, intelligent information management systems for energy and carbon emissions, infrastructure, product design, compliance requirements, and management practices.

For the year 2022, Trina Solar's Yiwu factory achieved an impressive overall score of 79.68 out of 80, earning the esteemed Zero Carbon Factory (Type 1) Certificate, which holds recognition from the China Energy Conservation Association. Notably, the Yiwu site also demonstrated significant progress in reducing its environmental impact, as carbon emissions per unit output declined by 21.77% in 2022 compared to the previous year, while power consumption per unit product decreased by 9.51%. These achievements can be attributed to Trina Solar's steadfast commitment to a sustainable supply chain encompassing product design, energy management, and intelligent system optimization.

The Yiwu factory, known as the Vertex Super Factory, plays a pivotal role as the primary manufacturing facility for Trina's Vertex S product line. Designed for various rooftop applications, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings, the Vertex S series of solar panels stands out for its higher efficiency and power, made possible by the use of 210mm silicon wafers. Additionally, the modules are compatible with mainstream inverters and mounting systems, supporting Trina Solar's mission of providing cleaner, greener energy solutions accessible to all.

Helena Li, the President of Global Solar Product Business Group at Trina Solar, expressed the company's enthusiasm for the certification, emphasizing their dedication to sustainable development and zero carbon practices in all aspects of technology, products, and process management. She reaffirmed Trina Solar's commitment to continually improving and enhancing their entire ecosystem to reduce emissions, protect the environment, and contribute positively to communities worldwide.

Furthermore, Trina Solar's commitment to environmentally friendly practices did not go unnoticed in the industry. In 2022, the company's full range of 210mm Vertex modules received recognition for their industry-leading low carbon emissions during the manufacturing process. These modules received a coveted Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) certificate from TÜV Rheinland in Germany, marking them as the first 210mm modules in the industry to achieve this distinction.
