In a significant step towards expanding renewable power generation in Turkey, TotalEnergies has announced its strategic partnership with Ronesans Holding, as revealed by Ronesans President Erman Ilicak during a news conference on Friday.
As part of the collaboration, TotalEnergies will acquire a 50% stake in Ronesans Holding's subsidiary, Ronesans Enerji. The joint venture aims to initiate the construction of 1,000 megawatts (MW) of wind and solar farms within the next three years, substantially contributing to Turkey's sustainable energy landscape.
Although the financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, this move signifies TotalEnergies' commitment to renewable energy investments in the region. Currently, Ronesans Enerji operates 166 MW of hydroelectric plants, showcasing its active participation as a small scale producer in the renewable energy sector.
Furthermore, Ronesans Enerji holds licenses granted by the Turkish government to develop wind farms, highlighting the company's potential for expanding its operations and contributing significantly to Turkey's green energy ambitions.
Turkey's emission reduction goals have led to its plan of awarding up to 3,000 MW of wind and solar plant licenses annually. This aligns with its broader vision of transitioning towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
With TotalEnergies' global expertise in the energy sector and Ronesans Holding's strong local presence and resources, the collaboration is expected to bolster Turkey's renewable power capabilities substantially. The collective effort towards cleaner energy production represents a positive step in addressing environmental concerns and fostering a sustainable future for the country.
As both companies join forces to execute their ambitious renewable energy projects, the partnership is likely to have a lasting impact on Turkey's renewable energy landscape, setting a promising example for other regions looking to embrace greener alternatives.
