The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, otherwise known as the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, has announced its 2023 call for proposals for the development of clean hydrogen technologies.
On January 17th, a total of €195 million was made available for projects that support the creation of cutting-edge clean hydrogen technologies. The call for proposals includes 26 topics, grouped into 11 Innovation Actions (IA), 13 Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) and 2 Coordination and Support Actions (CSA).
Of these, five of the Innovation Actions (IA) have been designated as flagship projects and are expected to have a significant impact on the acceleration of the transition to a hydrogen economy.
The Clean Hydrogen Partnership is a public-private partnership that supports research and innovation (R&I) activities in hydrogen technologies in Europe. Its aim is to strengthen and integrate EU scientific capacity in order to accelerate the development and improvement of advanced clean hydrogen applications.
The partnership is comprised of the European Commission, fuel cell and hydrogen industries represented by Hydrogen Europe and the research community represented by Hydrogen Europe Research.
Established in November 2021, the partnership will be supported by the EU with €1 billion for the period 2021-2027, complemented by an equivalent amount of private investment (from the private members of the partnership) raising the total budget to above €2 billion.
