OX2, in collaboration with Ingka Investments, has recently entered into a conditional agreement with NKT to acquire and install export power cables for two offshore wind farms located off the coast of Sweden.
Under the terms of the agreement, NKT's factory in Karlskrona will supply the necessary cables for the Galene project, which was recently awarded in Sweden. Additionally, the agreement encompasses the Triton offshore wind farm. With the final permits now granted, this deal will allow OX2 and Ingka Investments to commence the realization of these projects.
NKT will be responsible for the supply of approximately 210 kilometers of offshore and onshore export cables, as well as the installation of the offshore export wires required for both sites.
Emelie Zakrisson, the Head of Offshore Wind Development at OX2 Sweden, expressed her satisfaction with the agreement, stating, “This marks the second conditional contract for our offshore projects Galene and Triton in Sweden, encompassing both the supply and installation of offshore export cables with a focus on utilizing the NKT Victoria installation vessel.” Zakrisson further added, “We are thrilled to collaborate with NKT and involve key Swedish manufacturers in our inaugural Swedish offshore projects.”
OX2, in partnership with Ingka Investments, is currently undertaking the development of three offshore wind farms in Sweden. Galene is located on the west coast, Triton is situated in the southern region of Sweden, and Aurora is positioned between the islands of Gotland and Öland.
This agreement with NKT not only signifies a significant step forward for the development of offshore wind power in Sweden but also highlights the commitment of OX2 and Ingka Investments to engage local manufacturers and foster the growth of the domestic renewable energy sector.
