Ørsted is preparing to begin turbine installation at the 924MW Sunrise Wind offshore project, according to a mariners’ briefing issued this week.
The Wind Scylla jack-up vessel, operated by Cadeler, is currently docked at the Port of New London. The briefing said that once the vessel and supporting ships resume operations, they will be stationed within the Sunrise Wind array.
It remains unclear when turbine installation will formally commence. The mariners’ notice indicated that Wind Scylla is expected to remain in port for at least the coming week before heading offshore.
The Sunrise Wind project will supply electricity to the New York grid, with cables making landfall on Long Island.
